COY BEAVOR selected as COP Volunteer of the year for 2009. After completing thirty years of service in Law Enforcement, Coy and his wife Charley, whom also had twenty years of service in Law Enforcement, decided to retire and move to the High Desert. They purchased a new home in Apple Valley and were at the Home Show looking at improvements they could make to their new home. While attending the home show they came across the Spring Valley Lake COP Unit fingerprinting children. They decided they  had time to give back to the community as volunteers for the Sheriff.  They joined the Spring Valley Lake COP Unit and attended the COP Academy passing with top honors.  They went right to work patrolling Spring Valley Lake and it was not long before Coy was voted in as Commander of the Unit. Much of Coy’s experience was passed on to members of the unit that he worked with. He jumped on the chance to work with the Sheriff’s Dive Rescue Team and other special events such as the Sheriff’s Motorcycle rides and Sheriff’s Rodeo’s.   Coy is ending his second year as Commander of the Spring Valley Lake COP Unit which is a feat in itself and takes a lot of time and effort.  Thanks COY we congratulate you as our COP Volunteer of the Year.
