Spring Valley Lake Citizens on Patrol
San Bernardino County Sheriff
VOLUNTEERS
Is the most productive volunteer unit in the High Desert. We not only patrol Spring Valley Lake to prevent crime, we also assist in emergency situations.
SVL COP’s are trained to be the eyes and ears for the Sheriff’s Department and report findings immediately for law enforcement action to be taken. We augment Deputies in the field and supply needed resources and backup as needed.
SVL COP’s can be reached through the Sheriff’s Dispatch at 760-245-4211 or you can call and leave a message at our Satellite Office 760-951-7836.
You can also flag us down while on patrol at anytime.

SVL COP’S AND SHERIFF PERSONELL Are working to get Neighborhood Watch groups started throughout Spring Valley Lake. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Crime Prevention Unit actively supports Neighborhood Crime Watch groups within the County. The Crime Prevention Unit can provide your Crime Watch group with planning and organizational support, crime statistics, meeting speakers, and access to Neighborhood Crime Watch signage and materials.Neighborhood Crime Watch groups are organized and run by citizens, and can encompass areas from one street to one sub-division. The most important aspect of organizing a crime watch group is getting to know your neighbors. We live in a transient society where neighbors move in and out within a relatively short period. Unless citizens make a proactive effort to know their neighbors and watch out for each other, then the vulnerability to crime increases for that area. Crime Watch helps neighborhoods organize and develop relationships that increase security as well as community.

SHERIFF’S DIVE RESCUE TEAM

SVL COP’s are the only COP unit working with the Sheriff’s Dive Rescue Team.
We train with divers on a monthly basis and are on call 24 hours a day in case of emergency.

The SB County Sheriff’s dive Team is the most relied on west of the Mississippi River
Divers are called to rescue persons in water situations not only in SB County but Riverside and LA county as well. They recover bodies and evidence from Lakes, Rivers, Ponds, Reservoirs, and Streams

They have recovered countless vehicles, bodies and evidence from the local aqueduct. They have also recovered bodies and vehicles in Spring Valley Lake

YANA
YOU ARE NOT ALONE

SVL COP’s make daily GOOD MORNING calls to residents that are Elderly, Disabled or live alone. Residents are so happy to receive these calls and be able to talk to someone on a daily basis. If the caller happens to be late, the resident calls the caller to see if they are OK.
One lady is 93 years young and still lives alone. She said all of her friends are gone now and it’s so nice to have someone to talk to.
If the COP makes the call and there is no answer, they immediately go into action to find out why. They first call the person listed on the application to find out if they know where they are. Next, they find the person holding a key to the home and have them meet at the home. They also radio the Sheriff’s Dispatch at this time and notify what is happening.
We have had two women fall and get injured, one we had Dispatch send AMR and take her to the hospital where she remained for several days. The other was treated and remained at home. They were both black and blue from head to foot from the falls.
