BUD AND WINONA CURTIS Make calls and do paper work

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

YANA program is one of the most effective programs going today. One simple little telephone call daily has saved countless lives. It only takes a minute for COP’s to make the call.

Most of the people being called are ready to answer the phone as soon as it rings. Calls work both ways. If the call is a little late, it worries the person being called. If the person doesn’t answer after a few rings it worries the caller. The caller try’s again if still no answer it’s time to have the home checked out. A COP is in route while the Sheriff’s Dispatch is notified.

There have been many reasons why the call was not answered. The person is down and can’t reach the phone. Went to their Doctor and forgot to notify the caller. All COP members hold first aid and CPR certifications. They know exactly what to do as soon as they reach the person.

Most everyone has someone looking out for them, but the COP calls are the most timely and accurate when something needs t be done.

If you would like a daily call you must make the first call to 951-7836. Leave your name and phone number and we will get in touch with you. Now for the best part “IT IS A FREE SERVICE” so make the call today.
Does the Sheriff’s YANA Program work?
You bet it does!

A Spring Valley Lake resident went out in her back yard to fill a bird feeder. She got dizzy and fell to the ground and could not get up. She tried several times to get up but still could not make it. The house was about one hundred feet away. She started dragging herself towards the house because she was expecting a call. When the call came she was able to get on her hands and knees and crawl to the phone.
She receives this call daily from the Sheriff’s YANA program (Spring Valley Lake COP’s Larry Hoover) and talks to the same person every morning. After getting in the house she thought she would be OK. She told Larry she fell but was OK. Larry asked a few questions then immediately called the COP that was on duty (Hank McGill). All COP’s have first aid and CPR training and made a follow up call to the home. She had bruises on the side of her face, shoulder, arm and leg. She was in a lot of pain and still could not get up.

Sheriff’s dispatch was notified and an ambulance was on the way. She was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where after three days she was hoping to get released soon.

We are told by persons that need this service, that they don’t want it because they have someone checking on them. This person has a sister that lives across the street and neighbors that check on her constantly. Somehow the YANA Program works better and exceeds all other ways of checking on persons at home. This is a free service provided by the Sheriff’s Department and the Spring Valley Lake COP’s.

If you would like information on this free service you can call 951-7836 and leave your phone number. We will get in touch with you.

LETTER RECEIVED

Victorville Police Dept Sept 23- 07

My name is Margaret Reynolds
I am 95 – on Oct 20th I’ll be 96.

I joined YANA at Spring Valley Lake & Bob (Bud) Curtis & Kathy (Pfutzenreuter) calls me every morning at 8 AM & checks on me to be sure I’m OK.

As I have a bad heart & I’m too old for surgery it’s a Blessing to have someone to talk to & cares.

It is very important to have YANA, as all my old friends are gone & a friendly voice is so welcome.

Kathy has been an Angel to me. We got to know each other as she visited me when I felt bad & I felt better knowing I could call her.

There are so many Old People alone all day. YANA is so good & necessary program. I hope its here for a long time.
