COP Members donate countless hours being the “Eyes and Ears” of the Sheriff’s Department. They augment deputy sheriffs on law enforcement related task not needing the expertise of a fully trained deputy.
Members are required to attend and pass the sheriffs COP academy. They are required to hold a First Aid and CPR certification with yearly updates. Members receive strict monthly training on various items most important to their daily function within the Department.
Members work as volunteers and are not paid for their services within the Department. Unlike city sponsored COP units the SVL COP unit works in the unincorporated area of San Bernardino County. They obtain their own vehicles and equipment to patrol with and do their assigned duties.
COP's Guarding Deputies Vehicles, Suspect is in Riverbed. Most vehicles were from Town of Apple Valley. Notice all overhead lights are still on.
EXTENDED DUTIES
SVL COP members have taken it on themselves to support and assist the Sheriff’s Dive Rescue Team. Members deliver vehicles and equipment to the site for training exercises and/or emergency call outs. They guard and protect incident sites and diver’s equipment at all times.
